Team-Building Activities

Our workshops teach your people about the nature and value of teamwork. They teach your managers and employees how to work together more effectively. And they provide a means for experiencing teamwork in the context of team-building activities.

The Learning Value of Activities

People learn by doing, and team-building activities are a highly effective method of teamwork training. We can customize our team-building programs to focus on teamwork within the context of customer service, sales, interpersonal communication, leadership and other specific areas. In doing so, we always select team-building activities that clearly illustrate those training principles. Training alone doesn't have nearly the value of experiential training through focused activities.

In customizing a team-building workshop for your group, we will select the perfect activities for the size and composition of your group and the specific areas of teamwork training they need. Activities range from short 10-minute team exercises around a table to highly-active team competitions of an hour or longer in duration.

Ski instructionsIndoors or Outdoors

Most of our clients prefer indoor activities in order to ensure against adverse weather conditions. However, we can plan an outdoor program with an indoor backup plan. Even our most physical team-building activities can be conducted in a large room such as a hotel ballroom.

Round Table Activities

Round table activities are completely non-strenuous, and are conducted with all participants seated. Although ideally conducted around circular tables, round table activities can be conducted in rooms with classroom-style or u-shape table arrangement, or even in fixed-seating arrangements such as auditoriums. Although these activities aren't physical in nature, they are fun, creative and highly interactive. Our round table activities include games, team construction projects, adventure simulations and role-playing activities.

On-Your-Feet Activities

on-your-feet activityIf you include one of our workshops as a module within a multiple-day meeting or conference, your group will appreciate the opportunity to get on their feet and move around. Our "on-your-feet" activities aren't physically strenuous, but they do involve standing, walking, and interacting while moving or standing. These games and activities are action oriented, and often involve competition with other teams.

Physical Activities

While our "physical activities" are not dangerous or highly strenuous, they do involve physical action. These activities are fun and highly immersive, and often involve the use of props such as team skis, bridges, balls, hoops, ropes, etc. These activities generally require a fairly large room or an outdoor area. Attendees who prefer not to participate in physical activities can still join the fun as assistant facilitators, judges and referees.

A Special Guest Facilitator

Buford P. FuddwhackerYour team-building facilitator is Roger Reece. However, you can bring in a special guest facilitator at no extra charge: back-woods philosopher Buford P. Fuddwhacker (Roger's alter-ego). Buford adds humor, hilarious group interaction and a down-home slant to your team building workshop. For more about Buford, please visit our Fun Motivational Keynotes website (www.funmotivationalkeynotespeaker.com).

An Evening of Karaoke with DJ Buford

Karaoke with BufordIf you're looking for a fun and entertaining evening for your group, include a Karaoke/dance party on your team-building agenda. DJ Buford P. Fuddwhacker will get even the most shy members of your team up on stage with a microphone in hand.

Activity Debriefing Sessions

The "point" of a specific team-building activity is not always self-apparent. In our team-building workshops, Roger Reece always conducts a debriefing session after each activity. He explains the parallels between the activity and day-to-day interaction at work. He interviews activity participants to find out how they felt and what they experienced during the activity, and he probes deeper to discover how these same experiences are felt at work. The learning value of each activity is multiplied through this effective, interactive training process.

One Activity or a Day of Activities

We can structure a one-hour mini-workshop and team-building session with an introduction, a team-building activity and a debrief. If you are planning a long meeting or conference, this is a great way to add a fun change-of-pace to your agenda. You can even add multiple sessions to your agenda throughout the days of your meeting.

Alternately, you can schedule an activity-focused, full-day workshop with an entire day of team-building activities. Most of our clients, however, prefer to balance activities with classroom-style or interactive training. Contact us and we will give you a full array of options for structuring the perfect team-building workshop for your group.
